I have just read about this and I agree completely. Without education, children will go on being abused. Girl children need an education, not a husband! Violence and exploitation of women and children must end, if our world is ever to stop these terrible practices.
Is our country doing this correctly? Well, no not entirely. There are still sections of the Australian community where a good education is an unfulfilled dream for some or not something even thought of by others. I was stunned when I heard a story on the ABC about education in Tasmania, where many students never go beyond year 10, and have no thoughts at all of ever going on to university. In 2013 this seems so wrong.
